Benevento, Carabinieri control the territory. Drugs and ammunition seized. A 30-year-old arrested

2025 opens with a further guarantee of security for Benevento and the main municipalities of Sannio. The Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Benevento will be able to count on a contingent of the Operational Intervention Teams (SIO) of the 10th Carabinieri Regiment “Campania” of Naples, in support of the military of the territorial force.

The reinforcements, arranged by the General Command of the Carabinieri, on the proposal of the Commander of the Campania Carabinieri Legion, They will remain in the Sannio province for much of the month of January, to strengthen the territorial control services, already intensified in the last two months with the use of a support device in the territories of the municipalities of Benevento, San Giorgio del Sannio, San Nicola Manfredi, Calvi, Pietrelcina and Pago Veiano.

The SIOs, in fact, will be projected in these days especially in the capital of Sannio, in order to strengthen the territorial control services carried out daily by the Benevento Company and the dependent Stations, with a view to proximity to citizens and perception of greater security in the areas most affected by the raids of thieves during the Christmas holidays with the dual objective of strengthening the perception of security and preventing predatory crimes, with a particular focus on thefts in homes and commercial activities. The strategy includes targeted checkpoints and widespread surveillance, both in city centers and in peripheral areas.
In addition to crime prevention, the Carabinieri will carry out traffic control activities and targeted investigations to gather useful information to combat further criminal episodes and bring those responsible for those already committed to justice.

As part of these services, also aimed at combating drug dealing and searching for illegally held weapons and ammunition, the Carabinieri of the Pesco Sannita Station, with the support of personnel from the Operational and Radiomobile Unit, the Ponte Station and the Carabinieri Dog Unit of Sarno (SA), they arrested a thirty-year-old from Pesco Sannita, already known to the police, in flagrante delicto for the crime of possession for the purpose of dealing narcotics. During the house search, thanks also to the infallible nose of the dogs Axel (Belgian Shepherd Malinois) and Neo (German Shepherd), the Carabinieri found approximately 46 grams of hashish, hidden in a bedroom drawer, as well as a precision scale and various materials for packaging doses of the narcotic substance. The thirty-year-old, having completed the formalities, was declared under arrest and placed under house arrest by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Benevento.

During the same check, in Fragneto Monforte, a 34-year-old was reported to the Prefect of Benevento, pursuant to art. 75 of Presidential Decree 309/90, as a user of narcotic substances, as he was found in possession of 0,06 grams of marijuana. In Benevento, instead, stopped for a check in the city center, by the soldiers of the SIO of Naples, a minor found in possession of approximately 1,50 gr. of hashish, also for the young man will be reported to the Prefect for personal use of narcotic substances.

Always in Benevento, the military personnel of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus, following a house search carried out on a 46-year-old from the capital, they found and seized 41 rounds of .357 magnum caliber “jacketed” ammunition, 21 rounds of .38 special caliber “jacketed” ammunition, 80 rounds of blank ammunition, 1 glock model pistol of the blank-shooting type and without a red cap on the barrel. The man, who does not have any police license, was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Benevento for the crime of illegal possession of ammunition.

The Carabinieri of the Benevento Company will continue to maintain high attention on the territory, to prevent and repress criminal phenomena and to guarantee a safe and peaceful environment for all citizens, through day and night surveillance and constant operational commitment, reaffirming their role of protection of legality and security, responding to the requests for protection advanced by the Sannio community.
